Interest in wine science has grown enormously over the last two decades as the health benefits of moderate wine consumption have become firmly established in preventing heart disease, stroke, cancer and dementia. The growth of molecular biology has allowed proper investigation of grapevine identity and lineage and led to improvements in the winemaking process. Wine: A Scientific Exploration delves into the history and appreciation of wine, its early role as a medicine, and modern evidence on how and why wine protects against disease. It also addresses genetic modification of the grapevine, long recognized as a natural process, and the microbes involved in the making of wine.Contents1. Drinking Wine 2. Murder, like Roquefort, stinks . . .

Cheese Shop owner Charlotte Bessette's life seems quieter than ever with her fiancé out of town and her cousin Matthew and his children out of the house. But before she can put up her feet and enjoy a glass of chardonnay, Matthew asks her to play host to Noelle Adams, a bright sommelier visiting to help grow business for the local winery.

An affable wine aficionado, Noelle is paired well with the cheese expert Charlotte—but something seems to be troubling the secretive houseguest, and Charlotte's life is upended when she finds the sparkling woman dead. Between Noelle's hotheaded ex, the cagey owners of the winery, its jaded manager, and a wily reporter, Charlotte has her pick of suspects, but she needs to act fast—this is a mystery that only gets more dangerous with age.

The Judeo-Christian bible begins with a description/ of the universe God has created. In the center of that universe is a tree laden with the gifts man needs. Man is made from the very being by God and charged with protecting that tree - the tree of life, of good and evil. Man abuses that trust. God does not punish man. Man is forced to live with the consequences of that mistrust. Much of the rest of the Old Testament describes the result of that mistrust: wars, murder, struggles, misuse of the land. Even then God does not abandon man. From a thunder filled mountain God attempts to reestablish man's trust in God. Man again abuses that trust. God sends prophets to help restore that trust. Some are ignored, some killed. God does not quit. Again through a tree God attempts to breach man's mistrust. This book will not look at the consequences of man's mistrust. It will concentrate on the poetic images the Bible uses to describe God's attempt to help us be aware of that trust. This history is told in a series of poems. I hope many will have experienced these thoughts. Even if no one even reads these thoughts, writing this book has given me a greater appreciation of the Bible and how so many of the individual books are so interrelated. I hope you enjoy the book and it helps give you a greater appreciation of the unity of the Bible. I hope it helps all human beings recognize our common unity and helps restore a sense of God's trust in all of us. I hope it will spark a sense that each of us needs to in some way make the presence of God real. The final part of the book has a series of questions young persons might be asking about the messages of scripture. These are questions adults may have asked when they were children, questions that might be helpful if we asked them as adults

AuthorAuthor is a writers group based on Facebook, created and moderated by Martin van Houwelingen since 2014. As we all live in different parts of the world, we therefore have never met. Some of us have published, some of us have not, some have years of writing experience, some are just beginning. But all of us found we shared something special, a love for writing stories. Dividing writers by genre alone, we set our goal on publishing cheap and affordable books with short stories and story snippets in that selected genre in an effort to get read and recognized. None of us is getting paid and everything is strictly on volunteer basis. If you are a writer, an editor or cover artist and want to join us, then feel free to do so. The more people we find, the more books we will be able to publish and the more exposure we all will find. https: //www.facebook.com/groups/authorauthor/
